“My life changed when I realised that a man will risk his life for a blue ribbon.” Napoleon Bonaparte
Achievement Awards are given to a participant in recognition of his / her efforts and thus can be powerful motivators.
Whatever goals have been set, it is important to recognise a child’s progress and effort, rather than whether or not they are performing a skill to perfection.
When you begin it is important to give the awards at shorter intervals in order to boost his / her self-esteem.
Awards make everyone feel special, acknowledged and appreciated! If parents are participating they should receive awards, as well.
Tip: Hand out awards at short intervals when participants are getting started or experiencing difficulties in order to boost his / her self-esteem.
