Help your children take responsibility for every day tasks, set boundaries, while teaching Life-Skills & Values

Why Create I Can Do It?

Hi, my name is Pat Baker - creator of I Can Do It...

PatB140Today a whole generation of young adults are ill-equipped to deal with the stresses of modern life because they were not sufficiently challenged while growing up.

If parents insist on doing everything for their children, is it a surprising that they do not always develop into capable, well-rounded adults?

Children Naturally Start Out Saying "I Can Do It!"

Every child is born with natural motivation to evolve and learn an abundance of new skills. A familiar refrain heard by many a small child is “I Can Do It”.
Unfortunately, as parents we have a tendency to dismiss our children's thirst for independence. We are constantly in a rush, zooming off to work, school, shopping etc. We feel it is quicker and more efficient  to do things by ourselves or to pay someone to perform the tasks that we do not have time for.

Learn The Secret That Helps Your Children's Lights Shine Brighter, Develop Self Esteem & Purpose

I believe the secret to success is to empower your children from their first steps! This is what the I Can Do It! program, is all about: helping children develop self esteem and giving them purpose. Children need to have self-respect; respect for others and a sense of achievement.

There is so much that children need to learn on their way to adulthood. Who will teach them all of those skills if we do not? No one! So many children are brought up on free passes; they reach adulthood without a clue of what life is all about. They were never taught core values, time and money management, cleaning, cooking and basic maintenance skills and more. They lack the perseverance to see a task through to the end. Many have not developed the ability to accept responsibility for their actions.

It Is Possible To Teach Them These Things In A Way They Don't Even Realise They Are Learning Them - And They Are Having Fun Doing It! Mary Poppins did!

As Easy As 1, 2, 3...

It is pretty basic. Ask yourself what skills (emotional, social and physical) you believe your children will need to make their way in the world. That will be it! Your own personalised game plan, because it is our responsibility, as parents, to prepare them. No one ever said it would be easy.

It has become far more difficult...

In fact, it has become far more difficult. There was a time long ago when the community was strong and families lived in close proximity. In many cases they lived in the same house, village or street. The grandparents would take care of the children and teach them how to do tasks and behave, while the mother and father were out working. It is not so long ago that many mothers did not work outside the home. For the most part this way of life no longer exists as aircraft and all forms of transport have made it easy for families to disperse, we have become a Global society. Divorce rates continue to grow and new-age blended families are on the rise. There are single parent families, parents and children that are not biologically related and the list goes on. One thing is for sure, there are different styles of educating children and couples come from different backgrounds and cultures. Many parents are living in separate homes and share custody.

No matter what kind of family...

Children need consistency so the 'I Can Do It' planner is that middle ground. It will help you introduce the rules that will govern the path that your family takes.

It is about helping them become a well rounded person - that can embrace all of the very best things that life has to offer.
